Some very personal impressions and revelations about signifi cant places and venues that played a role in his diverse musi-cal life are highlighted in Magnus Mehl’s “City Views”Specifi cally for the recordings on this Album, in collaboration with brother Ferenc, he put together a “Consortium” of musi-cians, which illustrates Mehl’s most infl uential life stages over the last years. Great variety, powerful musical images, creative liberty, and ever changing line-ups give personal insight into the life of this musician.The music of these “Stadtkompositionen” (or “Citycompositions”??) radiates an unruly individualistic, positive swinging ener-gy, yet can be characterized through refl ective, lyrical thoughtfulness.

Kerberbrothers Alpenfusion
"RISING ALPS"
‚Transglobal alpine jazz‘ is the name of the game on the new Kerber Brothers Alpinefusion album! Brass instruments, guitar and crisp percussion will make you believe you are in the midst of a South American fiesta. Then, suddenly, you’ll be surprised by a septuple meter yodel, accompanied by zither and alphorn in an earthy, bluesy style. Now the archaic alpine Scherrzither joins in. The dulcimer transforms to a Persian santur. The ländler starts enigmatically with alphorn and Indian transverse flute, then picks up speed as the soloists switch to trumpet and saxophone. Even an accomplished organ piece by Bach is divided up among the quintet. Even though all pieces have been composed by Andreas Kerber, each musician adds his personal note during the improvisations.
The roots of the three original Kerber Brothers are strong and deep: Together with their parents they were the Allgäu folk music family and performed together on stage from the moment they could walk. To combine that traditional heritage with today’s sound requires an almost acrobatic balancing act between front-line music and tradition. To hold this balance without drifting off into kitsch is a commendable achievement and not easily duplicated by others.
Their individuality makes the Kerber Brothers extremely memorable. After all, there are none with whom these extraordinary musicians could be confused! If you’re looking for something different, something really off the wall instead of boring mainstream, then this is the album for you.

Squeeze

The Album: A first class line-up! What more could we ask for? Belonging to the elite of European drummers, Reto Weber has internationalized his successful project “Squeezeband“. In 2003 he began to work with some young and promising Swiss talents and he succeeded at his fi rst go. After two successful CDs, concerts, tours and festivals throughout Europe, Africa and South America, in 2009 he lifted the Squeeze project to a new level by the addition of the fantastic Beatboxer NINO G, who is simply one of the leading fi gures on the beatbox scene worldwide. So, he simply invited his friends: the fi rst one being the American saxophone giant CHICO FREEMAN with whom he has been playing with for 20 years, then GIANLUCA PETRELLA a young outstanding trombo-nist from Italy with whom he played in the band of Enrico Rava, and of course GILAD ATZMON from England on the bass clarinet and alto saxophone, one of the great multi-woodwind instrumentalists. With the addition of DANY MARTINEZ, an unequaled bandleader and groove guitarist, MICHEL ALIBO an extraordinary bassist, well-known for his legendary perfor-mances with the group Sixun.A SUPER HOT BAND! THE SQUEEZEBAND IS IMMERSING IN A NEW MUSICAL WORLD AND WILL MAKE WAVES WITH THIS SPECIAL LINE UP FROM JAZZ TO HIP HOP AND BACK!

BOLERO BERLIN ist ein Ensemble mit Solisten der Berliner Philharmoniker.
Die Band geht Anfang Januar 2012 in unser Studio um ein neues Album aufzunehmen, das bei jawo records im Frühjahr 2012 erscheinen wird.

Eigentlich gehört sich das ja nicht so richtig, aber hier sei dann doch mal die berühmte "Ausnahme" wärmstens empfohlen, nämlich das neue Album von Alex Jung bzw. seinem Quartett mit illustrem Gast mal von hinten aufzuzäumen

Am Mittwoch Abend (21.00 Uhr - 22.00 Uhr) ist Johannes Ochsenbauer bei BR Klassik, in der Sendung U21-Live, zu hören. Die U21 Studiogäste sind junge Musiker, die durch ihr Talent oder ihren Musikstil aufgefallen sind - auf dem Sprung an die Spitze. U21 gibt ihnen ein Forum und lädt sie ein, live im Studio zu spielen, ohne Berührungsängste vor dem Mikrofon.
